You’ve been involved in sport all of your life. What were some of your earliest memories and achievements?
Some of my greatest achievements started when I was younger and I believe to be the foundation of my drive towards excellence in sports. I was challenged to apply my skills in a variety of sports from soccer to gymnastics to track and field. I remember be faster than all the boys growing up and my parents took advantage of that placing me in every sport that required speed and power.
When did you first get involved in winter sports and what was your involvement in the Canadian bobsled and skeleton teams?
I was first recruited to come try bobsled right after university. I had ran track and field at the University of Regina as a Sprinter and was recognised for my speed to come try my hand at pushing a sled down an ice track. After a brief stint with bobsled the skeleton programme caught my eye and my need for speed continued as I competed in skeleton racing.
You currently play football for the Los Angeles Temptations. What position do you play?
I currently play running back.
What have been your biggest sporting achievements and what are your goals and ambitions in sport for the future?
Being able to play on a national stage on TV with the LFL. Our games are broadcast on FUSE HD every Saturday starting in May till September. My future goals are to be a sports writer or NFL broadcaster.
How hard do you have to train for your football career?
Really hard. This is no joke football so I treat practices on the field and in the weight room very serious. I am currently training for the next season coming up in May.
You have won a number of beauty competitions and modelled in a variety of shoots. Could you tell us more about these and how it feels to be admired and respected in this way?
I’ve worked hard all my life in athletics and my body is just that, athletically built. I take pride in displaying the time and effort that I have invested in my body. I attribute hard work and dedication and even nutrition to my fit physique. I definitely feels great when someone comments about my athletic build in photos and asks how I achieved it. I always answer: years of sports.
You’re well educated and that includes having a Bachelors of Kinesiology degree. Combining that with the sporting and modelling career it’s clear that you must be a role model to women around the world. How does that make you feel and how important is it to you to inspire others?
I love inspiring others and hearing about it. When people reach out to me letting me know that I motivated them in some way it just means the world to me.
How would you sum up your message to those inspired by your achievements?
Life is not about the destination but it’s about the journey.
