When did you first get involved in extreme sports and outdoor adventure?
Ever since I was a child my dad was fully supportive in an active outdoor lifestyle but also in pushing myself. My first Euro trip climbing really opened up the ease of being on the road and travelling – so accessible, even for a weekend!
What sports are you most passionate about and how often do you get to partake in them?
My main sports are BASE jumping and climbing. You need particular conditions to jump in so I either have to travel or wait for the right winds. I climb in all sorts of disciplines from sport climbing to alpine climbing, but I mange to climb a few times a week now, which is good because I need to train!
Could you tell us about some of your biggest personal achievements in extreme sports?
One of my biggest achievements was being the first British person to do a ski BASE jump. Climbing the 1938 route on the north face of the Eiger was something I never thought I would accomplish either.
What are your goals and ambitions for the future and have you got any challenges you’ve currently set yourself?
So many goals and ambitions the list is never ending! The next big project is to climb all six of the great North faces of the Alps and wingsuit BASE jump them.
Could you tell us more about www.t1twenty.com and how important to you is it to be able to connect with like-minded people from across the internet?
So for ages I had been meaning to start a website. I finally got round to it while I was stuck on a ship sailing around Antarctica for six months. It’s a series of blogs, my thoughts on certain subjects like fear and luck in our sports, as well as trip reports and projects I’m working on.
For the sports I do its great to connect and draw inspiration from other people, projects can start from just a picture or a comment and grow into something big, there are so many people out there on social media willing to help. Whether I’m jumping in Rio or trying to find a climb in Chile I’ve used social media to find people to help.
If you could sum up in no more than 20 words how you think outdoor adventure can have a positive impact on someone’s life what would those words be?
It’s just the most rewarding thing to get out of your comfort zone, experience the thrill and look back at what you’ve accomplished.
Tim thanks his www.sungod.co and www.gopuck.com for the equipment and gear they provide him with.
